Robert Gero

Robert Gero is an artist and writer. In recent years he has focused on an expanding notion of sculpture in theory and practice, pushing its interdisciplinary boundaries into design, temporary architecture, theoretical mathematics, experimental digital 3-D and collaborative works. As an artist he has exhibited nationally and internationally, selected exhibitions include the Museum of Art and Design, New York, 45th Venice Biennale, Venice, Italy, Artist Space, New York, Santa Monica Museum of Art, Santa Monica CA. He has recently been awarded an Art Matters grant, NY (2011).

He completed his Ph.D. in Philosophy at the New School For Social Research and received an MFA from the California State University, Los Angeles. His research interest is grounded in the practical and theoretical intersection of art practice, theory and philosophy. Currently Gero is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Visual Arts at State University of New York at Old Westbury where he has been a faculty member since 2012.

 

Caterina Tiazzoldi

Caterina Tiazzoldi is the principal of the award winning interdisciplinary architecture and design practice Caterina Tiazzoldi Studio which was established in 2004 focusing in users experience and spatial performativity. 

The Studio provides architectural design, urban installations, public art and, exhibit design. 
At the heart of the studio’s work is the component of finding innovative design solutions through the strong interaction between professional practice and the research that its principal Caterina Tiazzoldi develops as director of the research lab NSU at Columbia University. 
Caterina Tiazzoldi Studio has been internationally recognized for its innovative of space and design concepts such as the Social Cave, the Instant Installation, the Co-working Toolbox, the Illy Shop and the Onion Pinch, a playground in the Lisbon subway station.

The studio was winner of the Museum of Memphis Art Lab Competition, of the Architecture Rivelate Doing and Undergoing Competition artist competition and was a finalist in the Renzo Piano Award for Young Italian Talent. 
Its studio work has been featured in several significant events and museums such as the Paris Museum Cite’ de Architecture et du Patrimoine, Boston Design Museum, Tribeca Film Festival, Temporary Museum for New Design, International Furniture Fair, Saint Etienne Biennale, Experimenta Design and Torino World Design Capital.


In addition, Caterina Tiazzoldi teaches at GSAPP Columbia University, Politecnico di Torino, Ecole Superieur Nationale d’Architecture de Grenoble, Rhode Island School of Design, IED Milano, Domus Academy.

 

Peter Dorsey

Peter Dorsey is a building and film set designer based New York City. As a lead designer and project manager at Acconci Studio, Peter was involved in several major projects including United Bamboo in Tokyo Japan, and the “Roof Like A Liquid” in Memphis Tennessee. Peter has taught design studios and seminars at several Universities, most recently at The Rhode Island School of Design. His recent awards and publications include: honorable mention in Residential Building Concept Category “Re-thinking The Future Awards 2014”, honorable mention Van Alen Institute “Life at the Speed of Rail” design competition, “Beyond Form: Architecture and Art in the Space of Media,” Lusitania Press, and “Strata and Sound: The Adhan as Urban Operating Procedure” published in MONU – magazine on urbanism. Peter received an MS from the Graduate School of Architecture Planning and Preservation at Columbia University and a BArch from the School of Architecture at the University of Houston.

 

Eduardo Benamor Duarte

Eduardo Benamor Duarte is an architect and educator practicing on the making of projects that foster the transformation of our living environments based on the adaptation of a geometrical abstract apparatus in dialogue with a preexisting material condition; or a pre figuration of a thought as a spatial typology. Recent architecture, design and public installation commissions, include group exhibitions at the Cite’ de l’Architecture et du Patrimoine, Institut Francais d’Architecture in Paris, Salone Satellite – Milan Furniture Fair, Temporary Museum for New Design, and Made Expo in Milan; Doing and Undergoing, 125 th Anniversary of TC Columbia University, Wanted Design NY and Soho Digital Art Gallery in NY; Bienniale Design in Saint Etienne and Experimenta Design in Lisbon.

Eduardo Benamor Duarte earned his Masters of Science in Advanced Architecture Design from GSAPP Columbia University and in 2009 he founded the NY based studio Benamor Duarte Architecture focused on design of objects, and spatial environments at large. Since 2011 he is an Assistant Professor at the Rhode Island School of Design.
